Are You Willing To Be Little?

Asking for help is not so easy to do when you are afraid of how you may look when you do it. We sometimes feel that asking for help makes us look weak and stupid. And we hate feeling that vulnerable, that incompetent, like we don't know what we are doing. After all what would people think?

Why do we care so much about what other people think?

False pride!

We suffer so much with feeling inferior that we feel we have to act superior to life. The reason we act prideful is not because we got it all together, but because deep down inside we are terrified of our inadequacies. We are afraid of being found out, exposed for what we really are. We are afraid of feeling little.

But all that you really are is human!

A human with very real strengths and very real weaknesses.

And it's all okay. The definition of humility is having an accurate understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, knowing your intrinsic self-worth, not overestimating or underestimating your value.

1st Peter 5:5-9 states: "Clothe (apron) yourselves, all of you, with humility [as the garb of a servant, so that its covering cannot possibly be stripped from you, with freedom from pride and arrogance] toward one another. For God sets Himself against the proud (the insolent, the overbearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful)—[and He opposes, frustrates, and defeats them], but gives grace (favor, blessing) to the humble.

God cannot be God in your life if you are not willing to submit yourself to Him and let go of your pride. That means when you discover one of your weaknesses, rather than pretending it does not exist or defending yourself against it, cast it on to God! Just give it to Him, turn it over and confess it to Him. God wants to heal you! He is not ashamed of your weaknesses, in fact He says in your weakness His power is made perfect, that His grace is sufficient for your weakness! -2 Cor 12:9.

2 Chronicles 14 states: "If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land."

The key is humbling ourselves. Not easy, but necessary for deliverance and restoration. The good news is that God's promise is to heal us. We don't have to be afraid, we are all in the same boat! No one is perfect, we all fall short. That is not the problem.

Pride is the problem, humility is the answer. Are you willing to be little?

Today ask God for a humble spirit, declare: "I allow God to have all of me, I let go of pride and I give God my weakness of (fill in the blank) . I ask for help easily, knowing that as I do, God will bring to me what I need to be healed".
