Inaccessible In The Secret Place

Have you ever felt really unsafe? Until a few years ago, I probably would have said no, not really. I mean I've always been tough, pretty bold and fearless but the truth was that the reason I acted so tough all the time was because deep down inside I was terrified.

I grew up with alcoholism, addiction, poverty, instability, broken homes and broken minds. To say I carried some weight on my shoulders would be an understatement. Fear, as I came to understand, ran my life. But it wasn't until I got into recovery that I really became aware of how fear was my master. You see I had developed all of these unconscious beliefs about life that manifested themselves in ways that produced more instability, brokenness and fear.

That's the thing, as long as some aspects of who you are remain unconscious, you remain powerless to change it. I had to deny how truly unsafe I felt because after all, no one was coming to save me. But that denial became the very thing that ensnared me.

The Bible is full of scriptures that say "fear not", 365 of them to be precise. God is always telling us to not be afraid. OK God, how? How do we get to a place where fear is no longer our master? I believe psalm 91 hold a key.

Psalm 91 states: "He who [dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].

I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!

For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

[Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.

You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,

Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.

Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place,

There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.

For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].

They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.

You shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot.

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation."

We must learn how to abide in a secret place of God. What is the secret place? It is a place of knowing and resting. It is the place where I become fully aware that God and I are one, there is no separation. I am in Him and He is in me. He is my perfect health, deliverance, prosperity, power, righteousness, peace and joy, ready to come forth into manifestation at any moment I claim it. (Cady, Lessons in Truth).

But we must dwell there in order to fully grasp this truth. That means live in that secret place all the time. All the time we bring our conscious awareness to God's indwelling power in us and then we remain stable and fixed.

I no longer give fear any place in my head. I banish thoughts of fear, doubt and insecurity by demolishing arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and I take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Cor 2:5).

What are you afraid of doing today? Bring all of your conscious awareness to that secret place, the place of knowing who God really is, then as you do, you will come to realize you truly are inaccessible in the secret place of the most high. You are protected, provided for, defended against and preserved. You are delivered and set on high, and honored with a long life. A promise which declares that God will use your life as a demonstration of his salvation.
